In Florida, summer is busy, but winter is the high season (January through April). Along the Florida Panhandle Coast, it is the other way around - summer (May through September) is peak season. If you like clear, sunny clear skies and miles of quiet beaches, you will love the winter season, too.
The Panhandle features old and new - Pensacola has 400 years of history and has been held by four nations, Destin (picture below) was a small fishing village until quite recently.

The Florida Panhandle is also home to several beaches that have been rated among the top 20 in the nation over the last few years, as rated by "Dr Beach". The ratings change every year, but the Panhandle beaches are consistently in the top 20 list.
The ones that have made the list include Perdido Key, Grayton Beach and St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. Travel magazine rated St. Andrews in Panama City Beach the "World's Best Beach". | |
